서론 (Introduction)

 Writing Task2 서론 작성 공식을 알아보겠습니다.

 

1) 서론 (Introduction)

서론은 두 문장으로 작성합니다. (Paraphrasing + Answering)

 

첫 번째 문장 Paraphrasing : 문제의 토픽 (topic)을 본인의 표현으로 다시 작성합니다.

두 번째 문장 Answering : 주어진 질문에 대해 간단하게 대답합니다.

 

서론의 목적은 에세이의 주제를 제시하고, 주어진 질문에 대한 응시자의 대답을 간단하게 작성하는 것입니다. 따라서 많은 시간과 분량을 할애하지 말고, 위와 같이 문장으로만 명료하고 빠르게 작성해야 합니다. 단, 문제를 paraphrasing하지 않고 그대로 옮겨 적으면 감점이 됩니다. 대략 50단어 내외로 작성하는 것이 좋습니다.

:~관해서 (말하자면), in terms of, as for와 동의어입니다. 키워드를 강조하기 위해 키워드 앞에 씁니다. 뒤에 동사나 문장이 아닌 명사나 명사구를 써야 합니다.

 

there is a growing debate over whether + 에세이에서 논란이 되는 주제 (문장=S + V)

: ~인지 아닌지에 대한 논쟁이 커지고 있다. 찬반이나 장단점 등 의견이 양쪽으로 갈리는 주제 앞에 써주면 좋습니다. whether다음에는 문장이 옵니다.

 

although + 상대방 의견, 내 의견

: although A, B = 비록 A이지만, B이다. 강조하는 의견을 B에다 작성합니다.

반드시 A다음에 콤마(,)를 씁니다.

 

*서론 작성시에는 문제의 토픽을 paraphrasing하는 것이 중요합니다. 이 문제의 키워드인 money, exploring outer space 등이 동의어를 다양하게 사용합니다.

billions of : 수십억의

US dollars : 미국 달러, money와 동의어

space exploration : 우주 탐사, =exploring outer space

a growing debate : 커지는 논쟁

resolve issues : 문제들을 해결하다 (issue라는 단어 앞에는 solve가 아닌 resolve를 쓴다.

poverty : 빈곤

space race : 우주 개발 경쟁, =exploring outer space

broaden one's horizons : 시야를 넓히다

priority : 우선순위
